Masters in Computer Technology @IIT Delhi

   Computer technology(CTech) is a 2 year  MTech program in EE dept at Indian Institute of technology Delhi. It was started at IIT Delhi in 1976. It was one of the earliest courses in the branch of computer science offered in India when  computers were in their early age of development.

Projects and Research(By Faculty and students-MTech,MSR, PhD and Dual degree ) :

       Computer technology group workning on world's much needed latest research areas which are Machine learning, Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence and soft computing, computer vision, Image analysis, Biometrics, Pattern Recognition, Data analytics, Computer networking, sensor networks, Embedded systems, Parallel and distributed Processing, Big data anlysis, Music and audio processing, CAD for VLSI, Multimedia systems, Graph Theory, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics.

Admission requirements:

Qualifying disciplines

  • Computer Science/Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Informational Technology, Instrumentation Engineering, M.Sc.Mathematics/with an exposure to appropriate level course-in Computer Technology, M.Sc. Physics with specialization in Electronics.
  • Students who qualified Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) in above streams are eligible for apply to this program.
     

Selection Criteria:  

  • For Full‐time applicants: The above criteria is subject to minimum of (i) 60% OR [6.0 CGPA on 10PT scale] for GENERAL and OBC (Non‐creamy layer) and (ii) 55% OR 5.5 CGPA on 10PT scale] for SC/ST/PH in B.Tech or equivalent degree.
  • Students who met cutoff requirements have to clear the interview to get admission .

  • Program Co-ordinator: Dr. Sumeet Aggrawal : He graduated with a D.Phil. from Oxford and bachelors from IIT Kanpur in Computer science field. His area of research in cognitive science.  Please check for more details.
  • Prof. Sumantra Dutta Roy: He graduated with a PhD and Masters from IIT Delhi in Computer science. His area of research in Computer Vision and Image Analysis,  Pattern Recognition, Music Information Retrieval and Analysis, Biometrics, Bioinformatics.        Please check for more details.

Placements:

    CTech students have good Placement record. All students were place in Computer science related organisations, Avg pkg of CTech students in 2019 = 25.5L CTC. link

Life @CTech IITD:

  •  Most of the people already know IITs are having the hectic academic schedule. IIT Delhi have 5 working days(Monday to Friday) and 2 weekends(saturday, sunday). 
  • Each course will be taught for 3hours per week. Assignments and evalution criteria decided by respective course professor.
  • There are two dedicated labs named Information technology LAB(IT LAB) and Computer LAB/Embedded LAB only for CTech students.
  • First year Masters students works at IT LAB and second years works in Embedded LAB. LABs are 24*7 available to students. 
NOTE: Above mentioned cutoff requirements are for Full time students who want take admission via GATE Exam

  2. Thanks a lot for your detail info. , One question I have is, I have done my UG in CSE , If I'm selected for this program at a later stage, is there a possibility of being required to take non-CS subjects ?
